About this image:

The morning that i took this sunrise image I rose at 4am and while I was drinking my coffee in camp I watched 4 shooting stars pass over head one-at-a-time with only about 3 seconds between each of them. My jaw dropped and I sat amazed at the thought of how special this day was going to be. I drove an hour 15 minutes from Curly Jack campground in Happy Camp to the top of Lake Mountain. I was hoping to take a completely different image, but there were no early morning clouds, so the best laid plans were changed. And, I thank God for the change. I found this location the afternoon before, so I knew where I was going in the total darkness that surrounded me that cold September morning, 36F. I had to set a small flashlight in the lower left and right corners of the picture so that I could frame and focus the camera. Remember, I set up my camera 45 minutes prior to any light in the eastern sky from the rising sun. I couldn't see a thing in the viewfinder of the camera, but the flashlight gave me the closest points of the picture which is only about 18 inches away from camera. I prayed that I guessed correctly from the previous afternoon. I used a compass to guess where the sun might rise from. God smiled on me and the sun gave such beautiful streaks just as it peaked over the mountain peaks and as it spread it's warm light over the ridge line. Exposure settings: f45 for 1 minute and 6 seconds.
